UV Curing Plastic Adhesives Substrate Bonding Guide
UV light curing plastic
bonding adhesives cure in seconds upon exposure to ultraviolet light and/or visible light, even through UV blocked plastics. A solvent-free, worker-friendly plastic adhesive from DYMAX, forms high-strength, environmentally resistant bonds to plastics and other substrates, including polycarbonate, PVC, phenolic, acrylic, metal, glass and ceramic. Because plastic adhesives bond so many different substrates, they are exceptional adhesives for bonding dissimilar materials, something that cannot be done with traditional welding methods and other types of adhesives. Typical UV plastic adhesive applications include display case construction, automotive headlamp assembly, novelty bonding, sign assembly, adhering light fixtures and awards and plastic package assembly.
The substrate selector guide below shows some popular plastic, metal and non-metal substrates that DYMAX UV curing plastic adhesives bond to. |

Optimal curing of DYMAX UV plastic adhesives requires a light source with peak intensity at 365 nm. Our light curing plastic adhesives will also absorb visible light at 410-440 nm from the same light source for deeper and faster curing through UV inhibited or semi-opaque substrates. Recommendations should be used as a guide for evaluation and laboratory testing of particular substrate grades and applications. |
