Manufacturing Engineer

Position Summary: Responsible for Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions for all Customer Complaints (CID’s), internal and external. Directs the development of new adhesive manufacturing procedures, and continuously seeks to improve existing procedures. Documents and implements Process Change Request (PCR’s). Focus on cost reductions involving labor, materials, and overhead. Offers suggestions for new product innovation, participates in prototype design, and develops functional testing protocols. Teams with the Lean Steering Committee to implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing concepts.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Improve the quality, stability, and consistency of adhesive products with new processes.
  • Direct the scale-up process for new adhesive products.
  • Lead new product line launch.
  • Responsible for Process Validation of equipment.
  • Document standard work instructions and recommend specific improvements to them.
  • Responsible for PCR process, implements changes in documentation.
  • Responsible for training associates on new equipment and processes.
  • Resolve customer complaints by using effective root cause analysis tools.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant technology.
  • Technical liaison with supplies, shop floor, and other business areas.
  • Actively participate, promote and comply with all EH&S programs and policies.
  • Suggest processes for improvement and others for obsolescence.
  • Improve process flow improvements through employee suggestions.
  • Provide support to other departments, such as Technical Support, as needed.
  • Adhere to safe working conditions and strictly follow necessary precautions.

Education/Experience/Skills: College degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent experience. Three years minimum experience in chemical manufacturing, with supervisory experience and a background in adhesives highly desired. Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Operations Manager, Oligomers & Coatings

Position Summary: Responsible for the effective organization, production planning and operation of Oligomer and Coating manufacturing. Coaches, trains, motivates, supervises and plans the labor required to manufacture a variety of formulated and synthesized products ensuring the generation of a quality product, in a timely and cost effective manner. This position requires strong integration and coordination of all functions with the sales and technical groups in order to provide excellent customer service. Responsible for the state and suitability of the Plant and manufacturing equipment. Excellent people skills, lean manufacturing knowledge, a strong sense of urgency and good tactical skills are required.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily activities in operations in accordance with customer demands. Make recommendations for continuous improvements and, ensure responsiveness to customer complaints with root cause analysis and corrective actions completed.
  • Responsible for assuring that all manufactured oligomers and coatings are made in accordance with prescribed Process Descriptions and in accordance to the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • Oversee the planning and development of employees and equipment that continuously improve efficiency, reduce labor usage, improve quality, and ensure safety. Reduce waste using lean manufacturing tools.
  • Establish goals with staff and with Dymax Leadership Team members. Oversee dissemination of goals.
  • Ensure facility compliance with all regulatory requirements. Drive adherence to safety policies and procedures across the organization. Make sure facility is clean and organized consistent with 6S efforts.
  • Works with sales and marketing to achieve Company objectives for sales volume and market penetration. This may include competitive analysis, product and consumer research, establishing budgets and assisting in establishing price and distribution approaches.
  • Promote the Dymax edge. Work well with corporate resources whether shared, dotted line relationship or supply oriented.
  • Accomplish all of the above via a strong sense of teamwork and at all times consistent with the Dymax vision/mission statements. Improve and assure the quality and on-time delivery of Dymax O&C products by developing new procedures, processes, and specifying new equipment. Investigate Manufacturing related quality issues to determine root causes, and work with Quality, R&D and others to resolve.
  • Establish and adhere to a production plan and schedule consistent with customer promise dates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: B.S. in Chemical/Chemical Engineering required. An MBA is preferred.

Experience/Skills: At least ten years broad industrial experience, including five years minimum experience in chemical batch manufacturing. Must have specific knowledge of Urethane acrylate and/or other oligomers used in the radiation curing industry.

Controller

Position Summary: This position directs and organizes all general accounting activities, including cost, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. Prepares accounting and financial reports and ensures accurate accounting systems and record keeping.

Primary Responsibilities: Assisting the Director of Finance, is the team leader responsible for the adequacy of budgeting, financial planning and control, accounting and reporting procedures. Establishes new and revised procedures. Supervises Staff including Cost, A/P, A/R, Payroll, Fixed Assets and associated reconciliations.
  • Maintains the general ledger and all accounts, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains internal controls.
  • Assists in coordination of all audit and tax preparation activity, including preparation of schedules and documents.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner, and keep Director of Finance abreast of financial status.
  • Coordination of Budget and financial forecasts.
  • Preparation of monthly consolidated financial results with variance analysis.
  • Maintain accuracy and reliability of cost accounting system, reviewing and implementing changes in costing methods.

Education/Experience/Skills: Bachelor in Accounting required. MBA a plus. Minimum of 7 years experience, with strong cost accounting experience.

Compounding & Mill Operator

Position Summary: Responsible for following all procedures, SOP’s, work orders, and batch formulations for adhesive bulk materials. Safely operate the proper equipment required to convert raw materials and WIP into finish products to the highest quality standards. Assist in developing effective and safe manufacturing processes for adhesive products that achieve the company’s quality and our customer’s delivery requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Operate all milling, mixing, and lifting equipment per SOP and work instructions.
  • Accurately measure, fill, seal, label, and process chemical ingredients using specific tools and equipment per instructions to produce adhesive products.
  • Follow SOP and formulations exactly and record correctly all required information legibly and accurately. Note any comments which may indicate quality concerns.
  • Safely operate process equipment only as instructed by supervisor, work instruction, or equipment manual.
  • Understand and follow safe handling procedures for all chemicals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work station. Spills of any product or raw material will not be tolerated.
  • Assist in development and continuous improvements of Adhesive Manufacturing SOP’s.
  • Follow and review all work instructions.
  • Review and follow all Job safety Analysis instructions.
  • Assist in development and continuous improvements of our 6’S program.
  • Maintain lot and material traceability throughout bulk adhesive process and finished packaging.
  • Using FIFO First in First out. Using oldest lot number first.
  • Record all inventory transactions in location and weighed amount as required on work orders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills: High school graduate or equivalent. Work experience in material processing required. Good Math skills Required.

Chemical Operator

Position Summary: Follow established procedures, batch formulations, and safely, operate the proper equipment required to convert raw materials into finished products to the highest quality standards. Properly prepare, document and carryout activities associated with receiving Raw Materials and shipping Finished Goods and material movement through out the warehouse and manufacturing areas. Operate, monitor and maintain Plant Equipment and Utilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Operations:

  • Accurately measure and process chemical ingredients using specific tools and equipment per instructions to produce finished products.
  • Follow SOP and formulations exactly and record correctly all required information legibly and accurately. Note any comments which may indicate quality concerns.
  • Safely operate process equipment as instructed by supervisor, work instruction, or equipment manual.
  • Understand and follow safe handling procedures for all chemicals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work station consistent with 6S.
  • Working "off shift" hours will be necessary on an as needed basis.
  • Will frequently have to operate/monitor multiple pieces of equipment or operations.
  • With regard to chemical processes or the operation of manufacturing/support equipment: identify problems before or when they occur, correct them if possible and/or inform plant manager.

Shipping & Receiving:

  • Transfer/transport raw materials and finished goods to and from the warehouse storage areas to/from delivery vehicles.
  • Collect, review and/or check the accuracy and completeness of all necessary paperwork. Forward said paperwork to the appropriate individuals.
  • Ensure and/or complete/apply that all goods are properly labeled and packaged. That containers and packaging are suitable for use.
  • Complete any and all additional necessary paperwork.

Plant Operations:

  • Must be familiar with the startup, operation, shutdown and trouble shooting of all manufacturing and utility equipment.
  • Carry out operational maintenance on equipment as necessary.
  • Carry out emergency repairs as necessary and appropriate.
  • Co-ordinate with service contractors as necessary.

Warehousing:

  • Maintain a clean and orderly facility.
  • Move and report the movement of materials throughout the plant as necessary to support production operations and efficient utilization of limited storage spaces.
  • Ensure that hazardous materials are stored in designated areas.
  • Conduct periodic cycle counts to ensure the accuracy of the inventory.

Training:

  • Participate in required, periodic training.
  • Provide "On the Job Training" for new employees.


Education/Experience and Skills: High school graduate or equivalent. Work experience in chemical material processing required. Strong math skills required. Forklift license preferred.

Test Engineer

Position Summary: Lead all mechanical and electrical testing involved in new product development. General technical and engineering documentation, plan and conduct experiments, analyze data and report results while meeting project deliverables and timeline.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop test processes and procedures. Fully document testing procedures
  • Conducts mechanical and electrical testing
  • Collect and analyze data of mechanical, electrical and optical devices
  • Create and perform statistically sound product and process validations
  • Present results using statistics or engineering fundamentals to provide succinct conclusions and provide recommendations for further action
  • Analyzes test data to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
  • Participates in planning and preparation of technical and engineering documentation for the newly developed products. Able to take customer driven attributes and convert into engineering or product development teams
  • Report problems or failures in an attempt to improve products

Education/Experience/Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ME or EE) Required
  • Entry level engineering position for highly motivated, analytical engineer
  • Ability to work independently to design, perform and report testing
  • Ability to present data and draw results
  • Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation to work in concert with team members to meet deliverables on time
  • Strong analytical skills with solid engineering fundamentals. Working knowledge of statistical software and MS office; primarily Excel

Engineering Technician

Position Summary: Assist and support Equipment Engineering and Production with development and testing of new and existing Dymax cure, dispense, and fill equipment and peripherals.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design and build test fixtures and equipment to support product development and product manufacturing processes
  • Conduct experiments with mechanical, electrical and optical prototypes and conduct tests to validate new designs and design changes
  • Assist QA, QC and Calibration departments as necessary
  • Assemble prototype electronic or electro-mechanical devices and modules
  • Perform other functions per direction of Equipment Engineering Manager

Education/Experience: High school graduate or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of related industry experience.

Skills: Demonstrated understanding of electronics, basic mechanics and optical concepts; working knowledge of multi-meter, oscilloscope, other specialized measurement instruments and their uses.

Travel: Occasional visits to vendors or outside testing facilities
